[daydreamer]

I have the DrPMon.dll, and Aurora and I can't seem to get rid of it ... I have some other file that keeps changing it's name on me everytime I try to delete it ... Hopefully someone can help me! Here's my HijackThis log:

Download the LSPfix: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Unzip it and save it to your desktop..

Do not use it yet
If the next step leaves you without a functioning Internet connection, you will need to run this.

To remove New.net please go to:
Start | Control Panel | Add-Remove Programs, look for and remove New.Net or NewdotNet
If you can't find it, then please go HERE and follow the removal instructions in Procedure 4 at the bottom of the page.

If you can not connect to the Internet after removing New.net, please run the LSP-Fix program I had you download earlier, and click on the finish button. Reboot and you should be able to get back on.

Note: Misuse of LSPFix can cause loss of internet connectivity. Do not use it if it is not required.

Reboot your system and post back a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Please download WinHelp2002's DelDomains by right-clicking on the following link, and choosing "Save Target As":

• Save the file to the desktop.
• Then go to the desktop, right click on DelDomains.inf, and choose Install.
• You may not see any noticeable changes or prompts; this is normal.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
Nailfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in SafeMode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd.
Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a Full Scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Now scan with HijackThis and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button.

Then go to the desktop, right click on DelDomains.inf, and choose Install

Start CleanUp
When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
Uncheck cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea.
Click OK
Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
When asked to reboot system select No
Close CleanUp

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the Text Log from the Ewido scan by using Add Reply

I would strongly recommend reviewing and installing the following applications if you dont currently have them running on your system:

Use Anti-Virus Software
It is very important that your computer has Anti-Virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

Update your AntiVirus Software
It is imperitive that you update your Anti-Virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your Anti-Virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

Use a Firewall
I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

Spyware/Adware Detection and Removal Programs:

Prevention Programs:

• SpywareBlaster -- SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
• SpywareGuard -- SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
• IE/Spyad -- IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts File -- The MVPS Hosts File replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
• Google Toolbar -- Get the free Google Toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

Other Necessary Programs:

• A More Secure Browser
  Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser.
  There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend using Firefox

Be sure to also keep up with Windows and IE updates.

So how did I get infected in the first place?

Update all these Programs Regularly:Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
