Hi! This is my first time using hijackthis, and Im clueless on using it. so im desperately need yours, experts' help .

ZoneAlarm is giving me a severe PC headach ; just today, I can't operate ZoneAlarm and my pc keep encountering an Application error:

"Vsmon.exe - Application Error: The instruction at '0x01cc2ccd' referenced memort at '0x00000018.' The memory could not be 'read.'"

Therefore, I've decided to UNISTALL ZoneAlarm but i couldn't . I also tried to unistall it on the Add/Removal Program, but another problems appeared that only a few programs are displayed on the Add/Removal list. I've never encountered this problem before. How come my Add/Removal list doesn't shown all the progrems that I have on my PC. This is strange. Could it be related to ZoneAlarm application error?

So....
Please help me...

P.S. and if there are any unusual programs on my pc, please advice me to get rid of them. Thank you so much.

Hi there and welcome

A few things we need you to do please,

Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt
Move HJT into this folder please,

Next

First download this LSPFix unzip it to your Desktop, Don't do anything with it.

Go to Add/Remove p[rograms and remove
New.Net


If you can not connect to the Internet after removing New.net, Please run the LSP-Fix program I had you download earlier, and click on the finish button. Reboot and you should be able to get back on.

Post back fresh Log when done please

Please use the following suggestion to help prevent reinfection

Download the following program, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster

Keep AD-Aware. and Spybot 1.3 handy, Check them for updates prior to running and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

For an added check run an online virus scan, you can use one of the 2 below,
TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
For ease use the following program
Download and install Cleanup
Run "Cleanup" and when it has finished, Reboot

Remeber to Check Windows for updates

Probably a good time to create a new restore point See Here Name it clean or something like that,

• Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
