Hi guys and girls i have a question.i recently purchased a acer aspire 5250-0639 with windows 7 home premium the issue is underneath my laptop it has a format disk product key but i never received a disk.am i supposed to buy a disk? im really confused

No most branded manufacturer systems now have a recovery partition on the hard drive. Check your manual as it should give you instructions on how to create a set of recovery disks from that partition. This is what you would use in case you ever needed to return your system to factory new state. They do this now to lower the price of the systems when you buy them.
