Yes - another guy with Aurora problems.
One of the most stubborn and annoying pieces of malware I have ever encountered.
Tried to clean out my system following your "before posting HJT-log instructions", but aurora-related REG entries keep reappearing, when I run latest version of AdAware.

Are you able to help me with this menace?

Hi ExCal,

I just went thru your instructions. HJT Fix Checked worked fine as far as I can tell. I was able to remove Viewpoint under Add/Remove Programs and after that the empty program-folder in Explorer.
E-bates did not show up in Add/Remove Programs and I found no program-folder either.

I hope its for pleasure that your going out of town and not buisness!

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if the main link does not work) and install it. Please Do not run yet.

Also update Ewido if you haven't already done so

Just a few random bad files to clean up.

• Open HiJackThis
• Click on the configure button on the bottom right
• Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
• Click on "Delete File on Reboot"
• Navigate to this file - C:\WINDOWS\satmat.ini
• Double click on that file.
• HJT asks you if you want to reboot, now. Click "no".
  
  Do that for the following files also, until you get to the last one, then click "yes" when HJT asks you to reboot. Reboot in safe mode.

When you get into safe mode:

Run the program CleanUp!

While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Post back when you finish and tell me how your computer is running

Hi ExCal,

Well, I was in fact away on business, but not a bad week at all.

I went thru your last few pieces of advice, and they worked like a charm. My PC is running beautifully and I've had no instances of pop-up of any kind since the clean-up.

A friend recommended me to give the Microsoft Antispyware a go on my PC, which I did. It picked up a few more unwelcome visitors (WindUpdates and Blazefind) which I hadn't noticed before. Other than that the scan was clean.

All in all, I think my PC is just about as clean as it is possible in this connected environment.

Thanks again for all your help. It has been very valuable. Some goes to the entire forum.

Great job, it appears your computer is clean

Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Now that your system is Malware Free, it is important to reset your system Restore. Click Here to learn how to.

Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

If you are unhappy with your current antivirus and want to replace it or if you dont already have one, I suggest one of these free programs:
*Note - do not use more than one anti-virus program as it will more than likely cause conflict.

A Firewall is a must! Here are 2 good free versions:

There are other options other than Internet Explorer for a browser, which some say have better security. Two of them are:

Opera

This site is a great source for tightening up security on Internet Explorer settings.

Make sure that you keep your Operating System and IE updated with the latest Critical Security Updates from Microsoft...they usually come out once a month, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
For ease use the following program:

Cleanup
Run "Cleanup" and when it has finished, Reboot
