i got one strange video problem here and i need a bit of advice.

first off a bit of background. once upon a time i had 2 nearly identical laptops. one was a emachine m6810 and the other was a gateway 7426gx. about 6 months ago the emachine started having some power issues. i believe the power connector need redone, but its not something i want to do. so i decided to replace the motherboard. the new mobo is from a gateway 7330gz, so it has an intel chipset, processor, and graphics adapter.

here is my issue, BOTH lcd's work on the Gateway 7426gx with no issues. when i bench-tested the 7330 with both lcd's neither one works. one shows vertical white/off-white bars, the other shows a black screen. using an external monitor i actually get proper picture and can access bios and such.

since the external works i doubt that the graphics card is screwy on the 7330(at least as far as my experience, research and education had taught me), so why am i having issues with the lcds?
