I plan to install a Samsung 128GB SSD in a newly-built desktop. The drive comes with nothing but software.

My desktop has SATA III connectors on the motherboard, and the SSD is SATA III compatible.

Is there anything I need to know to buy the right data cable? Is there anything about the data cable that can limit the data transfer speed?

Thanks,
Warren

Okay, my post must sound so dumb as to make everyone speechless. Let me try again: what kind of data cable should I buy to install with my new SSD?

Thanks,
Warren

Please remember that we are all volunteers here and so cannot be here all of the time due to other commitments such as family and work, this is why you may not always receive a reply as quick as we would like, thank you for understanding.

Yes the SATA to SATA data cable must be able to handle faster data transfer rates, supports 6 Gbps, 3 Gbps, and 1.5 Gbps and so is backwards compatible, better quality and available as a 90 degree angle type connector http://www.newegg.co...N82E16812119384

Thanks, Rage. That's exactly what I needed to know, and thanks for the Newegg link.

Sorry if I seemed impatient. It was more that I wasn't sure I hadn't mixed apples and oranges in my original question. I appreciate the service the volunteers here provide.

Regards,
Warren

You are welcome and thanks for the follow up

Sorry if I seemed impatient.

No apology is necessary but thank you in any event, I am sure that you are aware how popular and how busy that the GTG forums are, this unfortunately may lead to the odd delay.
