After some great help from gringo I'm having a bit of trouble with these three things:
I can receive mail in Outlook but can't read it.
I can't do a search on my computer.
I can't view my Local Area Connection.

I'm running 64bit XP by the way. The search window does open, but it's blank where you would put in your search terms. I can look at the Local Area Connection, but a double click to check packet flow does nothing.
Something seems to be blocking these.

If your computer had some kind of virus, I recommend to do a clean install of the operating system....
