Connect HP Printer to network router

A friend's HP Photosmartplus B209 printer is not communicating with router or computers. It used to work fine with linksys router and now does not connect to neatgear router.

I tried to set it up by connecting laptop to printer via USB but the link was not recognized. I can print from the laptop while connected, but when in setup, no dice.

There has to be a way.
