anti virus not working, no sound, rubellite error

Apologies if this is in the incorrect forum! Switched on my Acer laptop today and there was no sound....not even the little bars that show you the volume. It came up with rundll32 stopped working. Then tried to do a virus check, but that won't work. I don't download much, intact there is only AVG that I have downloaded recently. hope that someone can help!
