Thanks in advance for any help with my spyware problems,

As you suggested, I ran AdAware and deleted 300+ items. I have updated Norton Antivirus, and run windows update. Sometimes, Norton finds a problem, with \WINNT\sys32\IEAccess2.dll - trojan horse.

I have now run hijackthis, and here is my log.

Log looks good to me. Can you delete this file?
C:\WINNT\sys32\IEAccess2.dll

A very good free trojan scan can be found here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

P.S. Sorry this took three days, missed you post. <_<

Thanks. I seem to have a problem with hposol08. This seems to be some sort of process that just eats cycles. In my limited reading on the web, it seems to be an aftereffect of spyware. Can I fix the following with hijackthis?

C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpotdd01.exe
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hposol08.exe
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpoevm08.exe

C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin\hpoSTS08.exe

O4 - Global Startup: officejet 6100.lnk = C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hposol08.exe

Also, what is this line, and should I be fixing this?

The HP entries are legitimate. If causing problems, try uninstalling the software, or checking HP's site for an software update.

Strange entry, missed it the first time. Try running CWShredder:

Thanks. I ran CWShredder, and while it was running, I got a virus warning as follows:
Virus: Trajan.bootconf
\Program1\COMMON~1\MICROS~1\MSINFO\msinfo.exe
Cannot be erased.

CWShredder ran and removed two files: oslogo.bmp and something else.

I rebooted and reran CWShredder without it finding anything. I then reran the hijackthis, and here is the log.

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.geekstogo...tion=show&id=12

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D
