This just happens sometimes, without any warning - and though I have used the "check for solution" button, I never get any response. Would be grateful for any help that will get rid of this problem - if possible.

Regards

Ricky

Lets take a look at your voltages by doing the following instructions.

Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.
  • It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
  • Now go to Start and then to All Programs
  • Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
  • In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
  • Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
  • Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
  • Attach it to your next reply

Please download and run Hardware Monitor
Installation (setup version only)
HWMonitor is a hardware monitoring program that reads PC systems main health sensors : voltages, temperatures, fans speed.
The program handles the most common sensor chips, like ITE® IT87 series, most Winbond® ICs, and others. In addition, it can read modern CPUs on-die core thermal sensors, as well has hard drives temperature via S.M.A.R.T, and video card GPU temperature.

Yeah speedfan shows a possible problem with the +12 volt rail but hwmonitor shows it as being good. I am more inclined to believe hwmonitor's readings.

Next Please follow the steps below to enter the Event Viewer program in Vista\Win7. This will give me more information into what is causing your issue. You can get to Event viewer two ways and I will post both for you.

" Go to
" Start
" In the Search box type in Event Viewer in the search box and press Enter
" From this point you can follow from step four from the below method as they will be the same.
Method Two
" Go to Start
" Right click on the Computer Icon and select Manage
" Navigate to the Event Viewer, You will be prompted to accept the action you are going to perform. Click continue
" On the left window pane click on Local and then expand the Windows entry. This will allow you to see every error for the past 24 hours as well as the last 7 days in the right window pane.
" Look for the ones that correspond to the times that your issue occurred.
" If any are found please double click and expand the error. This will open and give you more information on the error.
" Please include that in your next reply.

My computer crashed (my other one) and I have a black screen (Windows Resume Loader) that says

The last attempt to resume the system from it's previoue location failed.

Attempt to resume again?

(use the arrow keys to highlight your choice)

Continue with system resume

Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu - (this is pre-highlighted)

The arrow keys are not working for this, so I cannot actually choose, and the (enter = choose) option doesn't appear to be working either ................... what a mess huh  sorry, what can I do now? please

Well this is not good at all.
It sounds like the keyboard did not initialize correctly. A reboot should correct that issue so you can get back into windows.

WOW this is just strange as we have done nothing to cause this. It has to be a coincidence that this started. Let me ask is your kb and mouse by chance wireless?

Yes, they are wireless ............... we had a temp power failure whilst that computer was on, I guess that's what caused it, when I turned it back on -

? Connection - USB port with PS2 adaptor

Yes it is a USB and has a ps2 adapter if needed.

? PC Keyboard Type - Basic Keyboard

Yep standard 104 keys so it is just like most others. Just a basic keyboard

? Plug and Play - Yes

? USB Interface - USB 2.0

Should not be a problem even if you have a USB 3.0 connection because it is backwards compatible with 2.0

? Wireless Or Wired - Wired
