My Firefox homepage opened up normally. Cllaro Search did not come up. The speed of my computer is faster. I just got on and have not had the popups that were occurring before. I will try Yahoo and Facebook to see if any of the popups return. Thank you for all your help and patience!

Hello

These logs are looking allot better. But we still have some work to do.

Please print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file. It will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps..

uninstall some programs

NOTE** Because of the cleanup process some of the programs I have listed may not be in add/remove anymore this is fine just move to the next item on the list.

You can remove these programs using add/remove or you can use the free uninstaller from Revo (Revo does allot better of a job)

Programs to remove

Ask Toolbar
Bing Bar
Conduit Engine
Java 7 Update 9
Java™ 6 Update 24
Java™ 6 Update 27
Java™ 6 Update 6
JavaFX 2.1.1
McAfee Security Scan Plus
Search Assistant MocaFlix 1.66
Uniblue RegistryBooster
VaudiX

[/list]

Please download and install Revo Uninstaller Free

  • Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
  • From the list of programs double click on The Program to remove
  • When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
  • Be sure the Moderate option is selected then click Next.
  • The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
  • when the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next.
  • Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
  • Check/tick the bolded items only on the list then click Delete
  • when prompted click on Yes and then on next.
  • put a check on any folders that are found and select delete
  • when prompted select yes then on next
  • Once done click Finish.
.

Clean Out Temp Files

  • This small application you may want to keep and use once a week to keep the computer clean.

    Download CCleaner from here http://www.ccleaner.com/

  • Run the installer to install the application.
  • When it gives you the option to install Yahoo toolbar uncheck the box next to it.
  • Run CCleaner. default settings are fine
  • Click Run Cleaner.
  • Close CCleaner.

: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware :

I see that you have MBAM installed - That is great!! and at this time I would like you to update it and run me a quick scan

  • Double-click mbam icon
  • go to the update tab at the top
  • click on check for updates
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is Checked (ticked) except items in the C:\System Volume Information folder and click on Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
  • If you accidentally close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Download HijackThis

  • Go Here to download HijackThis program
  • Save HijackThis to your desktop.
  • Right Click on Hijackthis and select "Run as Admin" (XP users just need to double click to run)
  • Click on "Do A system scan and save a logfile" (if you do not see "Do A system scan and save a logfile" then click on main menu)
  • copy and paste hijackthis report into the topic

"information and logs"

  • In your next post I need the following

  • Log From MBAM
  • report from Hijackthis
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

I downloaded Revo Uninstaller and deleted the items on the list that I could find. I did not find a Java 7 update 9; instead, I found a Java 7 update 11. Also, I didn't see in the window of the programs/files that Revo showed either Vaudix, Search Assistant MocaFlix 1.66, Conduit Engine, or the Ask Toolbar.

I then downloaded CCCleaner and ran it as instructed. Following that, I updated MBAM and ran a quick scan, but it kept hanging up on CNNIC Search Bar and wouldn't proceed. Incidentally, this is also the same item that Spy Bot hangs up on. Even if I leave my laptop on for hours, I will come back and find that either Spy Bot is 'not responding' or that MBAM is 'not responding'. So, I could not produce any MBAM log as you requested. I seem to recall having the same issue with both Spy Bot and MBAM once before on the CNNIC Search Bar hangup.

I downloaded and ran Hijack this. Here is the log.

CNNIC.Searchbar is all I found. I am not certain what the full address is as this is all I see when running either SpyBot or MBAM.

This doesn't bode well. It didn't find any folders containing the CNNIC.Searchbar. Here is the log.

Greetings

These logs are looking very good, we are almost done!!! Just one more scan to go.

:Remove unneeded start-up entries:

This part of the fix is purely optional
These are programs that start up when you turn on your computer but don't need to be, any of these programs you can click on their icons (or start from the control panel) and start the program when you need it. By stopping these programs you will boot up faster and your computer will work faster.

  • Run HijackThis (rightclick and run as admin)
  • Click on the Scan button
  • Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

    • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IgfxTray] C:\Windows\system32\igfxtray.exe
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IAAnotif] C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\iaanotif.exe

I tried running the program on two different occasions. Last night, it got hung up after about the three hour mark on something called c:\\windows\System32\Shsetup.dll. I tried running the program today, and after about five hours it got hung up again at the same spot. Of the list of threats I could see(as I failed to notice them before because I thought I would get a log on completion, it found several occurrences of windows32/open candy application and windows32/InstalleRex.E Gen application. I can't seem to recall the others at the moment. I will remember to write things down next time in the event the scan doesn't get to complete. It was at 99% completion, having scanned 263661 items and listing 21 infected items. Not sure what I should do next.

Thanks again.

Make sure you are running IE as admin - http://www.ehow.com/...inistrator.html

Try resetting IE - go here and scroll down and click on show all and click on the fix-it button - http://windows.micro...orer-8-settings

If that does not work then try this one

Overall, computer is running much faster. And not having any issues with popups. My only issue seems to be my adobe flash player. Whether in IE or Firefox, I am getting crashes every other page load. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash player many times, but I get the same results. Not sure if this is related to my other problems or not.
