I need some help. A few days ago, i was veiwing a web page and the page just changed to a site with the url: corpsument.net/survey. Then my AVG alerted me of a virus named downloader. small.9.x in the temporary internet files folder named something like mt[1] or something like that. The AVg alert window told me to run AVG to delete this virus and i did. However, it didn't find any virus. I even tried to locate the file but couldn't. So i just emptied the temp internet files folder. however, another time the same thing happened. It went to the site, AVG alerted me. I emptied temp folder again. Even now sometimes that page popsup but it doesn't alert me of the virus. Today, when i tried to download something it doesn't work. So just to test out it just wans't that site, i tried to download the google toolbar and this is th error message:

Internet Explorer cannot download GoogleToolbarInstaller.exe from toolbar.google.com.

Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavaible or cannot be found. Please try again later. Please help me.

Yes, I run Ad-aware frequently and right before writing this post, i performed another scan and it only found one object which was a tracking cookie.

And here are some important details that might help u:

When that page popsup, i cant see anything because i need to install a plugin first and ofcourse i didn't install it. It also says this message. Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly

Is there anyway you can download the WinSockFix on another computer and use a floppy, cd, or thumbdrive to put it on the troubled pc? This will repair your internet connection.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Explorer] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindUpdates] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] winupdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update Machine] winupdt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] winupdt.exe

(these two optional, but will improve system perfomance)
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.exe.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdt.exe

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<
