The computer is running much better however, every time I try to run/uninstall chrome, it freezes the computer and I am forced to do a restart every single time I touch it. Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your help so far.

Do you get any error messages when Chrome crashes? When you tried to uninstall it did you use the menu option, Uninstall Google Chrome or did you try and uninstall using Control Panel->Programs and Features?

Hi Grobanish,

Step One: Farbar Service Scanner

Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center
    • Windows Update
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

What I need in your next post:
1. The Farbar Service Scanner log, FSS.txt.
2. The answer to my chrome question from my previous post.

Hi Grobanish,

That's fine, thanks for letting me know. Because this is taking more time than normal it would be best if you don't make any changes to the computer while we are working on this and it might be wise to use it sparingly until we get the problems sorted out.

I haven't been going on it. I use my mac for basic things. Suizome got sick so she wasn't able to make it. I have to talk to her and see when she's feeling better and can come over to help. :(
I'm sorry this is taking so long.

Hi Grobanish,

I was wondering if you feel confident enough to tackle this on your own? I'll post one step at a time and will be here to help if you have any questions. I can go slowly with you and talk you through the steps. If you feel you can do it, please follow the instructions in post 33 and ask me any questions you have.

Step Two: OTL Fix

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Note: If you are using the pro version or trial version of Malwarebytes 1.6 or higher please disable it for the duration of this fix as it may interfere with the successful execution of the script below. If it still hangs then please uninstall MalwareBytes' and run this fix again.

Run OTL
Posted Image
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following (do not copy the word "quote")

    :Commands
    [createrestorepoint]

    :Files
    ipconfig /flushdns /c
    netsh advfirewall reset /c
netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state on /c

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done and post the log it produces in your next reply.
  • Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Step Three: Security Check

Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Right click SecurityCheck.exe, select Run as administrator, and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Step Four: Create a new Chrome User Profile

Your Chrome user profile may be corrupted. Follow these instructions to create a new user profile

Step Five: How is your computer running?

Let me know if Chrome is still crashing and if there are any other remaining problems.

What I need in your next post:
1. The log produced by the OTL fix and the new OTL scan, OTL.txt.
2. The log produced by Security Check, checkup.txt.
3. Let me know how your computer is running and what problems remain.

Thank you very much! > . < I'm sorry I haven't replied in a while, I've had a huge math test and not much time for the computer at all.
I'll let my friend know and hopefully she can come over this weekend, if not on Monday!
