I have been having this problem for some time now where my lights go out on my modem then come back on. When it does this i have an interrupt in my connection sometimes as bad as disconnecting from World of Warcraft as well ventrilo and other times just a slight pause

This can happen once a week or 10-15 times a day and its random

I have a Motorola SB5101 surfboard cable modem and a linksys EA4500 router

If all the lights are going out then this is suggestive of a faulty modem which needs replacing.

The power light still stays lit but the "receive" "send" "online" and "PC activity" go off then back on as if i was loosing my Internet connection, and like i said it's usually more of a "pause" in my activity , on the worst occasion i have to re-boot my modem and router, the modem is probably 3-4 years old.

A few questions.

Does this just happen when playing WoW or generally?

Have you contacted your ISP to determine if they have issues at their end?

Did you get the modem from your ISP?

Do you know your speed?

If not then go here to test it. Speedtest

It happens generally

We had this trouble before and did contact the cable company but they said everything looked fine and i do believe that is when we purchased this modem

No this was a modem we purchased

Here is a link to the Speed test

We purchased a new modem today and are gonna try it, It's a motorola surfboard SB6141 and if it continues to do this then we know it must be something on their end

Will keep you posted, next reply may not be for awhile as to test this modem

Well your speed is par for the course and your old modem was getting on a bit.

I prefer Netgear equipment myself however I await your reply when you have tested the new Motorola.
