The home AND power/sleep button of my sister's ipod touch are not working! What can be done for at home fixes? And what are the usual prices for these repairs at electronic stores? Thanks in advance!

Well, I wasn't vouching for the reliability or validity of everything in the posting; merely pointing to some additional information.

Yes, re-reading the article I did notice that 20 or so people felt it necessary to point out that alcohol was in fact a liquid.

I don't think the author was recommending an alcohol bath for the iPod, just a small amount. We've (meaning the average home user)been cleaning electronic connectors, switches, etc., with alcohol for quite a long time with fairly successful results. Some level of common sense should prevail in all of life, including electronic devices. (i.e. turn off, don't have it plugged in. etc.) However, if you'd prefer to have the crack team of highly skilled, highly trained, Apple polishers perform this delicate operation...

Sarcasm aside, if you can wade through the H2O warnings in the post, there are other links that describe how to reset those switches. The suggestions may or may not work. However, if we're talking a dirty contact switch, "somebody" is going to need to clean it. I will also admit, if both switches are malfunctioning, the problem is not likely to be solved by cleaning. It sounds like H/W and either a reset or a component replacement is in order.

I suggest that you have the ipod check. Maybe the string got struck in your ipod.
