You either got re-infected with it or it was never deleted because some of my instructions were not followed previously. You need to try to avoid surfing the Internet as much as possible otherwise this infection will fill your computer with all kinds of worms/viruses/trojans. You only have Service Pack 1 and it is taking advantage of the vulnerabilities.

Let's finish off McAfee and I'll be back with the fix again.

* Run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

After your computer reboots, please delete the following folder:

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Windows lsass Service (lsass)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Run HiJackThis. Click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy and paste):

lsass

Click ok.

It should pull up information about the service, when it asks if you want to reboot now click YES.

After reboot, delete the following file, if found:

C:\WINDOWS\lsass.exe (ONLY delete the lsass.exe out of the WINDOWS folder because there is a legitimate MS process by the same name but is located in the System32 folder)

However, I am afraid there are bigger fish to fry.

Once again Nortan gave me a warning about rdriv.sys. However, unlike last time, by pressing okay over and over again, the warning soon disappeared, instead of persisting like before.

As soon as it said Checking Registry files, plz wait or something, after that this message came up.

PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by a External Process!

The cases of all the letters are copied straight from it. I did delete McAfee and am currently installing Service Pack 2

Did you services.msc and HiJackThis to delete that lsass service? I'm surprised it is letting you download the service pack! This worm does set restrictions to keep you from being able to download it, so definitely let me know if you have any problems during the download/installation process.

Heh, the installation went off without a snag

BUT, as soon as it rebooted, and it said "Turn on Automatic Updates" It was right before my computer opened up to my desktop. Of course I clicked Yes, then okay, then it took an unorthodax amount of time for the desktop to show up after clicking yes. Then of course, Windows Secuirty Center pops up and it shows me my settings. Automatic Update is On, Nortan is running, but firewall is off. I go to turn on the firewall, but alas, the on button is greyed off.

On is greyed out, all the little bubbles are greyed out, and the firewall has the off bubble dotted.

One more thing: Spy Sweeper went beserk in the middle of installation of SP2. It listed all these new start up entries had been added, these went by names such as:

OE_WMPWMFSDK_INSTALL_2 (It goes up to 32)
OE_WMPDRM_Install_1 (Goes up to 6)
OE_WMPWMP7_INSTALL_0 (Goes to 11, then jumps up to 20)
OE_WMPWMDM_INSTALL_7 (This one is by itself)

You need to do this so you can enable your firewall:

RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in Internet Explorer, it's "Save Target As") in order to download the fixrdriv.reg file. Save it to your deskop.

Locate fixrdriv.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. When it asks if you want to merge with the registry, click YES.

After doing this, follow my previous instructions for stopping/deleting lsass.

Just this part, don't need to run Killbox again:

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Windows lsass Service (lsass)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Run HiJackThis. Click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy and paste):

lsass

Click ok.

It should pull up information about the service, when it asks if you want to reboot now click YES.

then after reboot go to:

Start > Run - type:

firewall.cpl

Click OK and let me know if you can now turn it on and off and that nothing is greyed out.

Hmm, I tried findiing lsass under services but it was not able to be found. Then I checked my settings again and realized the firewall is NOW able to be changed and edited. So I set the firewall to work now

Your log looks great, so let's do this to make sure it's gone!

Download rdrivRem.zip
*Unzip it to your desktop.

Reboot into Safe Mode.

*Run the program by double-clicking rdrivRem.bat

After it's done, reboot into normal mode. Update Ewido and run a full system scan - save the log.

Post the log from Ewido and one more HiJackThis log. Also, let me know if you're having any other problems.
