After installing Java 7 Update 21:
- It says that installation was successfully completed
- In Control Panel / Programs and Features it shows "Java 17 Update 21" installed

- There is no "Java ™ Platform" plug-in installed in Firefox
- There is no "Java Control Panel" available
- There is no "javacpl.exe" file to run Java Control Panel
- Java tests fail:
- Renaming pluginreg.dat and restarting Firefox does not work
- There is no JavaFX installed (Control Panel / Programs and Features)
- plugin.scan.plid.all is set to "true" but doesn't find Java ™ Platform plugin

I uninstalled Java 7 Update 21 and installed Java SE 6 Update 43
- The "Java ™ Platform SE 6 U43 6.0.430.1" plug-in does install in Firefox
- The "Java Control Panel" is available via Start / Control Panel
- The "javacpl.exe" file to run Java Control Panel is in the Java/jre6/Bin folder
- All Java tests pass

??? Why does Java 6 Update 43 work and Java 7 Update 21 doesn't ???

When did you try to install the latest Java update because yesterday they seemed to have a few issues, I tried again this morning and all was back to normal.
