Hi guys,

I'm trying to install the latest Java, at present time is Java 7. But everytime i do and go to verify it on the internet, it says it cannot be verified.
I'm wanting to update so i can use online applications but this is making it impossible. Here's the issue:

I currently have Java 6 Update 31 installed as well at Java 7.
Trying to uninstall gives me the error message 1723, Saying .dll could not be found, contact support.
I cant install and update Java until its gone.
Have tried using JavaRa, This gives me a black Notepad window asking to create a file.
I've used ChkDsk to go through my entire computer (taking 3 hours) would like not to have to do this again.
Ongoing problem for two weeks now.

I'm at my wits end with what to do, seriously need some help.
Cheers guys.

Can upload screenshots if needed.

Hi,

In your case I will try first to uninstall version 7, next reinstall Java 6 Update 31 this hopefully fix your problem and you can next try to remove version 6 and reinstall version 7 Update 21.

During the installation of Java don't forget to always uncheck the box asking if you want the Ask Toolbar.

Hey,
The same error came up.
This is what is says 'Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personel or package vendor.'
This is the same as when trying to uninstall it.

Good. You talked about JavaRa did you try to force the uninstall after updating the program definitions?

  • Start the program
    Posted Image
  • click Update JavaRa Definitions
  • click Remove JRE

Posted Image
On the first step of removal the program will try to uninstall Java by running the Java Uninstaller, but on Step 2 will allow you to remove java completely if you press Perform Cleanup Routine.

Can you try again please?

Hi,

Lets try another tool...

Go to this Microsoft page
  • Click Run now to execute the Fixit
  • Then select Detect problems and let me choose (option 2). It will run and detect list of applications.
  • From the list of applications presented, select Java 6.
  • Let the program do the work of uninstalling Java. It should say fix was successful on the final screen.

Right,, so after a long process in doing all of this, i then reinstalled Java 7, for it then to say that it is not detected. I've gone through the trouble shooting so I've enabled it, lowered the security, enable the plugin and yet still nothing.
However, the Java 6 issue seems to have disappeared? Which was due to FixIt i think. So thank you so much for that :)

Nearly there!

Good. Java can be tricky. The problem is only with Internet Explorer? Which version you have?

Can you test with another browser?
