I'm running Windows XP SP2 and after installing the latest Real Player my sound schemes don't work. The sounds themselves all work using the sounds and audio devices control and I can use Windows Media and Realplayer to stream sounds from the internet. None of the Windows scheme sounds are being triggered by any of the events like "Critical Stop" or "Exit Windows".

Thanks for any help!

open windows media player, choose TOOLS > OPTIONS > FILE TYPE tab, then SELECT ALL, then OK.

REboot.

I wonder of realplayer hijacked some associations

Thanks, Gerryf!

I really appreciate the tip, but unfortunately, that didn't work. I had already uninstalled Realplayer and made Windows Media the default for all sound files. This one is really puzzling me.
