brand new Asus MoBo got to hooking up the power switch and it powers the machine on but will not turn it off. so unfortunetly i had to yank the power from the back. Is this normal? I dont have the HD set up yet so i have no way of telling it to shut down either.

I tryed pressing the button once
I tryed holding the button down
neither worked.

also check in your BIOS, some of them have an option to set what function the power switch will do. the standard set up allows the switch to shut it down if held for more than 4 seconds.
