The problem could be a corrupt/damaged OS or the HDD itself may have issues so first of all can I ask whether you have access to a second working computer that you can use to download Puppy Linux to so that we can try and secure your data off the HDD.

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration or Safe Mode with Networking, directions for both are available at the attached link, restart the computer and keep tapping the F8 key to get into the Advanced Boot options http://www.sevenforu...ot-options.html try the Last Known Good option first.

Depending on what the problem is it can take a few hours and you cannot do anything to help it along.
Tip: please do not reply to your own OP or last reply as it may lead to your request for help being overlooked, staff and members who assist on the forums will always check out a topic that has not received any replies to see if they are able to help, if you reply to your own OP it will appear to others viewing the board that you have received a reply and so are already being helped.
If you have something to add while waiting for a reply use the edit tab bottom right of the dialogue input box and this will ensure that you do not get overlooked and no information missed, thank you for understanding.

If yes do Last Known Good Configuration again but this time use the USB mouse (if that is what it takes) back up all of your important data, check that the notebook will connect to the internet and post back - do nothing else at this point.
