It could be that the drivers for the network device need to be installed or if it is a notebook that the switch is in the off position;

Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a notebook or desktop, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build try and tell us as much as you can about it, providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

Can I ask why the computers HDD was formatted and whether a wireless USB dongle device is being used.

Was the following procedure carried out and in the correct order;

1: Install the software for the wireless router.
2: Enter the WEP or WPA number and SSID that was provided by your IP (internet provider).
3: The software for the USB device installed.
4: The USB device plugged in only when prompted to by an onscreen message.
5: The USB device paired with the wireless router by reentering the WEP or WPA number and SSID that was provided by your IP (internet provider).

Can I again ask why the computers HDD was formatted as it may have some relevance on the issue.
