[Gers_]

No commands are working in my Command Prompt. I just get left with the following error.

'command' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Any help fixing would be great. Thanks.

command isn't a valid command to use on the Windows Vista/Win 7/Win 8 Command Prompt. Command was a valid way to open the Command Prompt on Windows XP.

Hi,

To fix that I need to take a look to your System Registry...
Please download SystemLook from one of the links below according to your OS Architecture and save it to your Desktop.
SystemLook (64-bit)
SystemLook (32-bit)

• Double-click SystemLook_x64.exe to run it.
• Accept the prompt Allow the program to make changes to this computer (UAC prompt)
• Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
  

  :reg
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
  

• Click the Look button to start the scan.
• When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.

Note: The log can be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Hi,

The system PATH is missing the system folders where the external commands reside... To fix that we need to change the registry.

The steps that I am about to suggest involve modifying the registry. Modifying the registry can be dangerous so we will make a backup of the registry first.
Modification of the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing so follow the steps that are listed below EXACTLY. if you cannot perform some of these steps or if you have ANY questions please ask BEFORE proceeding.


Create a System Restore Point

• Click the Start Orb , on the Search box type restore point, on the search results click Create a Restore Point
  
  Note: It may take some time for the system to populate the Available Drives box, so be patient.
  
• On the Protection Settings box make sure the protection is On for Local Disk (?) (System).
  Your OS drive letter will be shown in place of the ?.
• Click the Create button at the bottom
• A System Protection window will open.
• Type in a name for the restore point, i.e: Before Registry Fix and click Create
• Please wait until the System Protection window tell you a Restore Point is being created.
• The System Protection window will then tell you the Restore Point was created successfully. Click Close
• Click OK.

Modify the System Registry

!!! WARNING !!! The following fix is only relevant for this system and no other, running the script on another computer will not work and may cause problems...

• Download the file FixPath.reg and save it to the Desktop
• Double click the file FixPath.reg and accept the Security Warning related to Registry Editor
  
• click the Yes to accept importing the file to the Registry

Open the Command Prompt and test, the change should work without a reboot.

Sorry I didn't notice your post, it's always better to start your own thread because posting in one from other user can be missed.

The fixpath.reg was specifically prepared for this user that's why isn't available.
