Hey Geeks:
When I turn on my Asus Laptop the Wireless is turned off and I have to use the Troubleshooter to turn it on. After about 30 minutes, it turns itself off and I have to go back to the Troubleshooter.

I went to the Asus website to try to download a fix or new driver but don't know what I need or how to find it!

Would appreciate a little help with this. As always... you guys are great!

Hi brycrip

What's the exact model and operating system installed?

You might:

Check the power saving properties of the wifi device in Device manager... make sure they are turned OFF...

Thanks for climbing aboard, Joe.
The laptop is Asus K53E with Win7 as the OS. I'm using the power saver mode because I live on a boat and can only charge the battery when I come ashore. Let me check the Device Manager, as you suggest, and go from there...
Again, thank you!

Joe... that seems to have fixed it. So easy too. Thanks so much!
All best from Luperon, Dominican Republic.

Glad you got it fixed :)

The sea, the great unifier, is man's only hope. Now, as never before, the old phrase has a literal meaning: we are all in the same boat.

Spoke too soon... still having problems with this issue. The WiFi will not stay turned on. I went into Device Manager and unchecked the power saving device but it either doesn't make a difference and I have noticed that sometimes it doesn't stick and I have to go back in.

Anything else I can try?

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7? Right click on My Computer and select Properties. System Type will tell you if 32 or 64 bit.

Also, what wireless device do you have? To determine this, open Device Manager then expand Network Adapters. The Wireless device should be listed there (all of it).

The ASUS website shows 3 different possibilities for wireless so we need to know which one you have.

Hi Ztruker. Thanks for the response and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. A little under the weather the last couple of days, (Don't Drink The Water!), but feeling better now and am in the village where I can get WIFI.

To answer your questions: The Asus is a 64-bit operating system and when I go to Device Manager, under Network Adapters, I get the following list:

Atheros AR8151 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS6.20)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N100
MicroSoft Virtual WIFI Miniport Adapter
MicroSoft Virtual WIFI Miniport Adapter #2

Hope this is what is required.

Best, and thank you...

Try these:

IntelWiFi.jpg

If the first one doesn't do it, the 2nd should.

from here: ASUS - Support For K53E
Select Windows 7 64 bit, scroll down and expand Wireless (11).

That first download seems to have helped, Ztruker... leave it with me for a few days and I'll see if it "sticks"

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it...
