ASUS R500A laptop touchpad unresponsive

My touchpad is not responsive and it doesn't even show up under devices at all. I think I might have damaged the ribbon cable while I was taking it apart to put in a new keyboard. What do you all think/what else do you think it could be? I need to know before I buy a new ribbon cable for it. The part number is awm 2896 80c vw-1.
