First and foremost, welcome to Geeks To Go's forums! I hope you stick around after we've assisted you in resolving this issue, as there is a lot of great members and information available on Geeks To Go's site. Now that the pleasantries have been said, let's take a look at your issue and see what we can do to resolve it!
STEP ONE: Intel Gathering - Q&A
Before I can really make appropriate recommendations, can you give me some examples of what you do on the computer or what data you are worried about? Just kind of explain what you're looking to protect, what security you're using and more . . . The more details the better!

You're being a bit broad, more information is needed if you want real help. Otherwise we're making assumptions on what you mean by "personal data" and anything anyone suggests may not be what you're looking for.

Care to elaborate on that a bit?

Hola dj07

When you say
"Kindly let me know is there any tips that can be used in giving protection to my content over the internet"
do you mean your traffic sent and received to and from your computer?
or do you mean content stored on your hard drive?

For traffic sent over the internet you can use a VPN (Virtual private network) this will encrypt your network traffic and give you a different IP.
To encrypt your DNS traffic the only program I know of is Open DNS's DNS Crypt.

To protect your information on your computer there is lot's of things you can do.
Make sure you have an up to date Anti Virus, firewall and update your Operating system this will help stop malware and plug vulnerabilities.
You can harden your system to external attack by doing various things such as password your PC, surfing the net in a limited account, turning off Remote access, disable netbios, disable remote registry ect you can google more on hardening your system there's loads you can do.
There are vaults you can place on your desk top and these will encrypt and lock all your private important documents in them and are passworded so only you can access them, some free some not.
You can encrypt things with True Crypt http://www.truecrypt.org/ it's popular with lot's of people.
There are programs you can get to encrypt your key strokes to again some free some not.
If you give me more detail on what you want to encrypt I can be more precise to better help you.
