ntuser.dat files are appearing

i noticed recently that my downloads folder is filling up with ntuser.dat files. i was going to delete them but got a prompt to leave them alone because it would make other programs either not work or malfunction. wazzzup? pavillion a1720n desktop running win7 professional.
thanks for any goods advice,

This isn't a file that should be shown, unless you have show hidden files set. Also it shouldn't be in the Downloads folder if I recall correctly. With that said, the real file when deleted is quite troublesome.

Can you please do this command in a command prompt and post the log (log will be on your desktop)...
dir "%userprofile%\downloads" /S > "%userprofile%\desktop\IntelReport.txt"

You can copy that and paste it into command prompt (right click > paste) if you need.

The file will be on desktop when done, labeled "IntelReport.txt". Please copy and paste that as a reply.

please tell me exactly what i need to type in the command prompt. i copied and pasted dir "%userprofile%\downloads" /S > "%userprofile%\desktop\IntelReport.txt" and it said no path was found.

I just re-copy & pasted that command in, it works just as I want it to. It is correct in the code box... Not sure where or what happened on your end, sorry.
