Really, really dumb question here: I back up my computer on an external hard drive and am running out of disk space. Can I safely delete previous backups? Does each back up include the same data each time(understand there is new data added between back ups)?

How are you creating the backups. If they are each a full backup then you can delete old ones. If they are incremental then you can't until you create a new full one.

Basically I just do a manual backup to an external 500GB hard drive. Here is what is listed in the backup folder:
4.26 GB
7.97
8.59
14.71
14.81
13.37
19.92
16.16

Just confused about keeping all of this if all I need is the latest backup.

Since they are not incremental, I would delete all but the two most recent. Always good to have more than one choice.
