Computer Randomly Shutting Down not from Overheating. Event id 48

I recently built a computer about 2 months ago and yesterday it randomly shut down twice within a span of about an hour. I was playing Borderlands 2 and switched out of the game to monitor my temperatures in Speccy and when I switched back my computer shut down. My temp was about 60C so I think heat wasn't the issue. I rebooted my computer and after playing Borderlands 2 for a while more a quit out and my computer shut down again. From what I have seen online it seems like it could be an overheating problem but my CPU temps seem fine. When I looked in the Event Viewer each time it shut down there were Event Id 41 and Event Id 6008. I'm not really sure where to look from here, this my first build and I'm not super knowledgeable. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Spec:
CPU: Intel 3750
Graphics: Radeon HD 7870
RAM: 8BG
MOBO: Asus

Update: My computer crashed about 4 more times today. Is it possible that an old surge protector could be causing a power problem? I switched surge protectors and it hasn't crashed since. I thought maybe my PSU might be the cause but how can I know without buying a new one?
