Hi. I've recently experienced a hard drive crash on my laptop, and had to purchase a new hard drive and re-install the OS. It's been about 4 or so days since my computer was fixed by my university's IT department, and unfortunately, I've been experiencing some serious performance issues that I hadn't encountered before the reset.

-My laptop takes several seconds to boot up, especially when its returning from sleep or hibernation

-It freezes periodically, and for several seconds. It runs much slower when I have more than 3 programs running.
-It's especially slow when loading multiple pages when I'm on the internet, especially when I have multiple tabs open at once. Google Chrome is my preferred browser.

-I had 3 BSOD's pop up 2 days after my computer was fixed, while I was downloading iTunes and Skype. It said something along the lines of "DRIVER IRQL...MORE OR LESS EQUAL"

I never really had these issues before I got my new hard drive. I'm concerned because I just got a new harddrive and reinstalled Windows 7, so I don't think I should be encountering problems like this so soon. Is there a way to fix my performance?

Hi higharcana,

Since the operating system was reinstalled, the blue screen errors may suggest a driver or drivers issue. They may need updating. Have you visited windows up- date and installed up dates / service packs ? The issue also could sugguest maybe the orginal problem was motherboard related too.

Lets see if we can see what's causing the Blue Screen

Download WhoCrashed
This program checks for any drivers which may have been causing your computer to crash....

Click on the file you just downloaded and run it.

  • Put a tick in Accept then click on Next.
  • Put a tick in the Don't create a start menu folder then click Next.
  • Put a tick in Create a Desktop Icon.
  • then click on Install and make sure there is a tick in Launch Whocrashed before clicking Finish.
  • Click Analyze
  • It will want to download the Debugger and install it Say Yes
WhoCrashed will create report but you have to scroll down to see it.
Copy and paste it into your next reply.

Please download MiniToolBox http://download.blee...MiniToolBox.exe and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:

  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click Go and post the result.

In your next reply,
  • Post the Whocreashed report.
  • Post the MiniToolBox Log.
  • Tell me the Make & Model # of the Laptop?

Thanks
Joe :)
