Just did a fresh install of XP Home, and cannot connect to wireless network (Belkin Router). Network is detected, but when attempting to connect it stays at "Waiting for network..." then dialog box eventually disappears without connecting. I am positive the network password is correct.

Other computers on the network can connect just fine to the wireless network.

I was able to connect to my home network where I did the install without any problems. I attempted to connect to the Wifi hotspot created by my phone with the problematic computer, and there was no problem connecting to that network at all so it would seem to me that everything is working. Just cannot connect to this network for some reason.

Am I missing something?

In case it is relevant, I set up an old router (DWLink) so I could have internet service to work from. The system has not problem connecting to the old router but will not connect to the current router the rest of my network is on.

Didn't realize DriverMax will only let me install 2 per day.

Installed:

Intel® 82801 PCI Bridge
Instant Wireless PCI Card V2.7

Others that seem to be related to networking:

Intel® 82801EB LPC Interface Controller - 24D0 & Intel® 82801EB SMBus Controller - 24D3
Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection
Matrox Exito PCI Standard PCI-to-PCI Bridge & Intel® 82865G/PE/P/GV/82848P Processor to I/O Controller - 2570
Broadcom 802.11b Network Adapter

If any of those are priorities I should do first, please let me know.

Got everything you listed in the previous reply installed.

Error message when trying to extract Namebench

"An error prevents this program from continuing: Cannot read SFX info. It's likely corrupt."
___________________________
(Edit)
Was able to find an alternate download of Namebench and followed all the directions but the problem still remains.

occurred:
%%1223.
Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from
the network address (DHCP) server.

Open Serivces.msc and scroll to the computer browser service and stop the service then select properties and set the start up to disabled.

Now go to the DHCP and stop the service then start it again see if you are able to connect.

Might also take a look at this link as welll.

I stopped and disabled the "Computer Browser Service" and stopped and started the DHCP and still not able to connect to the blekin wireless network.

I didn't really understand the information in the link. I tried to run "msisa.msc" as suggested in the article but it was not found.

Do you have a usb wireless device that you could test so we can see if this is an issue with the wifi card on the machine?
