It seems I lost drivers- is there a virus or malware that would cause this or was rebooting from cd rom for xp to blame? :tazz:

My theory:

They were replaced by the infection and the replacements were removed by one of the malware scanners you used.
Leaving you with nothing.
This sometimes happens when it concerns relatively new (or rare) variants thst don't get cleaned properly.

But did you manage to replavce them?
Is everything ok now?

I'm still trying to replace the system drivers for the internet. The modem is working and I replaced the ethernet card driver but I am still having problems with the network set up. Is there a system driver that may explain this? If I can get on live I can install from microsft download and repair most things but safe mose won't let me get downloads from microsoft center.

Sorry. I really don't know the answer to that.
You'd be better off asking in the forum I pointed you to before.
