Hi, I seem to be getting frame drops on Assassins Creed 4, I don't think it has anything to do with my GPU as I monitored the GPU usage and it didn't change from 50% (constantly). Is it something to do with my CPU maybe? I seem to get frame drops on most games but for the games I get very high FPS it isn't noticeable, but games like BF4 and AC4 have drops that are noticeable.

Thanks for the update.
That's a good system, CPU is fast so if it is getting bottlenecked, could be other programs and services are consuming resources.
Please download and install Revo Uninstaller. When it starts it will show all the programs that are on the computer. Make sure it is displayed full screen.
Go, top menu, > view, > click Details.
Please take a screenshot, if the list is too long, scroll up and take another one. Add to your next reply.

To capture and post a screenshot while the image you want is displayed
Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key
now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...give it a meaningful name.. BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG
then after typing in any response you have. Click on. Use Full Editor, (next too the POST button)
click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply.

My apologies JoeBenyon for the delay in responding to you.
Please look through you installed programs using Revo If you have programs you no longer use, you should remove them. I noticed that you have NOrton installed but is not on the start up menu.
To uninstall a program, Highlight it.
> on the top menu, click uninstall, then Uninstall, then yes.
In the window that opens, > select the third Radio Button, > Click next , then Yes.> then click Next.
On the Left Over window that opens, > click the + next to Bolded items.
> Then tick only boxes that are Bolded. > Click Delete, > Click yes.

You may or may not get another window with a list of left over shortcuts, I tick every box and remove.

we need a good way to view your CPU usage while gaming. Can you have a look at this tutorial and let us know if you want to implement it.>http://www.overclock...ith-fps-in-game

Hello Joebenyon and iammykel.

Joebanyon What is your frame rate dropping to in bf4?. Should be around 45-60.

Have you got PhysX turned on or off on your card?

Did you have a look at the link iammykel put on. We need to see your cpu usage during gaming,

You might get some idea of the usage with this http://www.cpuid.com...ares/cpu-z.html

Hi, the CPU usage didn't seem to go above 65% and the GPU usage was 80% at highest (Natural Selection 2 Max Settings) and I think PhysX is turned on. In Natural Selection 2 the frame rate goes from 60-120 and drops to 10-30. I uninstalled something called Pando Media Booster (Installed with LoL) and the drops in Battlefield seem to be a lot less (I think that may be the reason). In AC4 the drops don't seem to be as bad anymore but it still does drop from a nice 50-60 down to 10-30.

Try switching off PhysX in AC4. It should increase your fps.

I was expecting the cpu usage to hit 100%.

Uninstalling Pando Media Booster, will help as it runs in the background P2P.

Is the cpu or gpu overclocked,

Also can you check the temperatures cpu and gpu when the fps drops.

Gday.
Thanks Cheesgame for coming in on the Topic.

JoeBenyon

To prevent things getting muddled, please answer posts indavidually, Re; CheessGame's Post #27.

Did you set up for benchmarking, as per the Tutorial in Post #24?
Are you using Norton?
Please take another screenshot of running programs with Revo and include in your next reply.

chessgame

So that we know what any alterations effect the system, I suggest that everything be set to defaults.
BIOS Defaults.
CPU.
GPU.
?????

Neither are Overclocked, I will test again to check the temps.
