Philips DVP642/37 DVD Player not spinning

I have and old Philips DVP642/37 DVD Player that was working perfect till lately, i.e. when I load any DVD it doesnt spin. I took the cover off and tried to slightly give a spin to the DVD disc and then the DVD player started to work.
So now if I don't give a slight spin manualy it doesn't play.
Any ideas what can be checked?
