connecting phone to router when VPN firewall also used

I have a Netgear FVS318v3 VPN firewall and a Westell AA90-750015-07 router. The router is bridged to the vpn. If I connect my phone via wifi to the router, then the wired connections working through the vpn won't work. Is there a way to connect to the router or the vpn firewall and have both the wired and non wired devices connect to internet? i would like to keep the VPN in place, just be able to connect my wireless device to the internet through wifi.
