Hello Ladies & Gents. Here's my new dilemma. I use Firefox, I just do, it does much more of what I want than Chrome does. And about 2 weeks ago, everything started slowing down horrendously. Doing anything, like moving the mouse from one end of the browser to another, moving the mouse between different sections of an application form, switching between tabs, scrolling down the page. And it doesn't matter if the page is image heavy or text heavy.

 

I just updated my Firefox, it's now 28.0. And it hasn't helped the performance at all. I hadn't added any new add-ons, in fact I had removed at least 3 or 4 of them.

 

I checked the adobe page, and it says my flash player is up to date. My Java is up-to-date.

 

Here are the add-ons I have.

 

 

Is there anything I can change in the inner workings of Firefox to make it work like it used to? I don't know how it got ruined to begin with.

I can agree with you there, i like Mozilla Firefox and it has good security and add-ons features.

 

Truthfully my first guess would be that you have a lot of add-ons running that could slow performance of your browser.

 

How long have you had all those add-ons, since you have been having this issue?

 

How does the computer act, besides when using the browser? Do you have the same reactions, slow mouse movement ? How has software been working lately?

 

You can try to run Mozilla with add-ons disabled to see if they are causing the issues. Under Help " Restart with Add-ons Disabled"

 

Can also reset Firefox, but then you will have to reinstall your add-ons, but will not loose anything else, like Bookmarks, just add-ons and view options you made.

Under help at the top of the browser choose troubleshoot and then on top right you will see reset Firefox.

 

There are tweaking methods if you google it to speed up browsing with Firefox, but i would not recommend it even though you can reset it back, through reset i told you before.

Basically browsing speeds come mostly from your internet providers downloads speeds.Did you try IE how does that work? Do you regularly clean browser cache?

 

Have you run an anti-virus scan lately,not a quick scan, but a full system scan?

Everything else has been running pretty average. I use Photoshop a lot, and it works fine. So I think it's the Firefox issue alone.

I refuse to use Internet Exploder. And yes I clear my browser cache regularly.

I run my AV every 3-4 days, and my Anti-Spyware apps even more often.

I seem unlucky with Internet Explorer myself, but i just wanted to determine if it was just Mozilla giving you the issue on the Internet, so if you can at least try it if you have not yet, to see how it runs compared to Mozilla.

 

Reason i did ask if you had all these add-ons since this occured is because it is a fact that a lot of add-ons can slow down performance of this browser, you said you recently removed some.

You can check your plug-ins as these may cause problems too, try disabling them one by one and make sure they are up-to-date, as you did with Java and Flash.See which ones you really need or not.

 

I said you can try to run the browser with add-ons disabled to try to figure  either which one could be causing this, narrow it down or to also see if having so many on can be doing this.

I know you want to have the browser the way you want it, but we have to try to diagnose what may be causing your issue.

 

Even by trying to reset your browser as i instructed, you did not include that you tried anyone of these on your quotes back in your reply.

Something may have changed in the settings of the browser.

 

I have Mozilla Firefox 28 on my system, but only 4 add-ons extensions and one aapearance add-on, it is working as fast as the other versions did, only thing i notice it takes a little longer to load.
