Please help.  My computer is runninf extremely slow. I ran a norton scan no virus found. I believe there is an issue with the browsor and some other programs running and hogging all the ram perhaps?.

Doing a fresh wipe and reinstal i am prepared to do but only as a last resort. Please tell me what tests/scans etc i should to do get my pc back up to speed

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Check the task manager more to try to see what is running, what is using resources %'s in CPU use.

If you find the program that is using alot of resources, you can or should be able to find a way within a program to disable it from startup.

One free program useful for this is CCleaner  http://www.piriform....leaner/download

Try this program to check your Hard Drive and post results http://www.hdtune.com/download.html

Can also use MSCONFIG to see what is starting up  and running with your system in services TAB, in Run type :MSCONFIG.

Also in MSCONFIG you can try a selective startup to load only essential atartup items.

Whenever installing, uninstalling and making any chnges, always try to make a system restore point so you do not have to always rely on a system recovery to fix any problems.

True this is a last resort.

Gday.

Not a fan of CCC as it is easy to do a lot of damage to a system if you are not very careful.

Please read the Docs before using, > http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner

Hi iammykyl,

I figured it would be an easy way for this member to see what was starting up and running in system.

I never had an issue with it so far, but i mainly use it to just clean my systems browser history.

For some it's more for them to use MSCONFIG make changes.

I am using Google for the time being until i figure out the issue with firefox. I have ran firefox in safe mode and it does not freeze.  How do I uninstall firefox completely including all the extensions and add ons...i think that is the issue causing the not responding.

Here are the results of the HD check.
