Would I first need to code a website and have an integrated database before I even made a basic web based gaming app or is that not necessary?

Also any ideas for making a basic gaming app for me to work on? Bare in mind that I am a still quite new to web based coding.

Thanks.

If you age gonna have a website with the game and use any modern CMS (Contenet Management system), when installing it you need to create a database.

Depending on the type of gaming app, you are going to use, it might or might not require a database of its own.

Any chance of an example of gaming apps that do not require databases?
