Hello, I have a Dell XPS 8300 i7 with 12 gb ram . I bought a 3TB 3.5" Internal Desktop Seagate Barracude 7200.14 Sata III HD. I also bought a StarTech SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to 3.5" Sata HDD Enclosure with Fan. I set it up and plugged it into my plug n Play system and no play! It does not show up under "My Computer", it does not show up under "Disk Management", It does show up in Devices as ASMT 2105 USB Device but when I see what volume the device is populated with, the display is empty. This enclosure is the only one I can test it in because my other enclosures won't accept a 3TB and I don't know how to set it up internally. Don't know how to get this new drive recognizable. Thanks for your help......

Hello otieatkins

Not familiar with the external device that you are using but can you post your computer details for us, this to make sure that the board will recognise 3TB HDDs.

Excuse the title of the tutorial, How to Install an Internal Hard Drive on Your Computer

In addition, you need to go into disk management and initialize the drive , right click on computer and select manage then in the right side of the window under storage select disk management.

Look for the drive and it should be unallocated space, if so right click on it and select new simple volume then format and select a drive letter.

Hi! Thanks for responding! How do I get the information to give you? Also, I can't see the disk in disk management. Thanks!

Hello otieatkins

Download then run Speccy and post the resultant url for us please, details here

It could be the Star Tech device that has the problem, that is why I provided the tutorial to fit the drive internally, hence the additional steps to initialize the HDD, can you try the adapter and HDD on another computer.
