Hi,

I'm trying to do a clean reinstall of my windows 8. When I go to the up-right corner, settings, change pc settings, general, and remove everything and reinstall windows, get started and next, it says preparing for about five seconds. After that, this message is what I get:



Insert media.

Some files are missing.Your Windows installation or recovery media will provide these files.




What to do? D:

What you're trying to do right now is to reinstall Windows from a media that should contain an image of it. Either in a Recovery partition of your HDD OR from a CD/DVD containing an image of Windows 8. Would you happen to have a CD/DVD with a such image OR a Recovery partition ? You can easily see if you have a Recovery partition by going in Windows Explorer and clicking on Computer. You should have your C: partition (Windows) and if you have another, tell me how it is called.

Alright, what is the name of the D: partition ? What's inside it ?
If you could take a screenshot of what you see when you go on "Computer" in the Windows Explorer and post it here, it would help a lot

Better yet, post a snapshot of a fullscreen Disk Management:

To open Disk Management, press Windows key+r, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter or click GO. Make it full screen. Expand the fields as necessary so everything can be seen.

Unfortunately it looks like you have no Recovery partition. I can see that you have two 1TB HDDs but I guess none of them contain a Windows Recovery Image. You'll have to use a Windows 8/8.1 installation DVD in order to restore your Windows installation.

I don't have my cd, but my brother have one. That is windows 8.1 Can i use that, i have windows 8. Not 8.1

Well you'll need a Windows 8 reinstallation media in order to reinstall Windows 8.

Be sure to have your Windows 8 product key ready as the installer is the official Windows 8 installer from Microsoft and it will ask you your product key to be sure that you are a legitimate owner of a Windows 8 product. To find your Windows 8 product key if you don't have it, you can use a tool like Magical JellyBean in order to grab it :
