I plan to use this computer for gaming, and just generally surfing around on the internet. Are these parts all compatible if I were to build this computer, and would it be able to run high intensive games (Like BF4) with maximum graphics? If so, how many frames could I likely expect?
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Case - Black
Processor: AMD FX-8320 8-Core Processor
Motherboard: AMD AM3+ ATX – GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 SLI/Crossfire
Power Supply: Rosewill 600 W Power Supply
DVD RW Drive: ASUS DVD Writer
Hard Disk Drive: Western Digital Black 7200 RPM 2TB High Performance Hard Drive
Video Card: NVidia GTX 760 2GB Video Card
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 212 EVO
OS: Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Monitor: ASUS VS Series VS238H-P Black
Multi-Memory Card Reader: Internal M-C Reader
Wi-Fi Card: Internal PCI Wireless N 300MBps Adapter
Memory: 16 GB RAM (Need a specific model compatible with motherboard)
Thermal Compound: ?
I'm going to build this computer, and this will be my first self-built pc,so I need to know if there's anything else I need to get in order to build this from scratch. I don't know what thermal compound would work, and I don't have any specific brands of RAM in mind. Could I get some recommendations for those two parts? Also, would the Wi-Fi card be compatible with Windows 8, and Linksys/Belkin routers? And finally, would there be heating issues with this case and the cooler? Do I need more fans, or a better cooling system, and if so, what brand?
Would this computer build suit my needs, and is it valid?

Not a bad list of parts but a couple of pointers for you and please do not take it as any form of criticism we are here to help and save you some cash if we can;
An 8 core CPU would be wasted on gaming so unless you plan on taking up CAD, games programming, rendering video professionally or 3D modelling you would be better off with a faster quad core that uses less power and produces less heat.
16GB of Ram is also overkill for gaming and 2 X 4GB sticks is all that you need.
The MB does not have the best of track records with too many being DOA or failing in use, see Newegg Review tab here
PSU is not the best of brands, stick with proven quality brands that are a minimum of bronze rated and from the likes of Antec, Corsair, OCZ and Seasonic.
The HDD is a great product but 2TB is a lot of data to lose + hard work to continually back up, go for the 1TB version and if your budget will allow it add a 120/128GB SSD for Windows 8.1, your computer will boot almost as soon as you press the power on button.
Your aftermarket cooler, a very important thing I must make you aware of is that you do not need the additional heatsink and CPU fan and if you did use it you would void your CPU warranty both AMD and Intel are clear on this, see below;
AMD;
This Limited Warranty shall be null and void if the AMD microprocessor which is the subject of this Limited Warranty is used with any heatsink/fan other than the one provided herewith.
Full AMD article @ http://support.amd.c...earLimited.aspx
Intel;
damage to the Product due to external causes, including accident, problems with electrical power, abnormal electrical, mechanical or environmental conditions, usage not in accordance with product instructions, misuse, neglect, alteration, repair, improper installation, or improper testing;
Full Intel article available @ http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/cs-009862.htm
If you would like an alternative list of parts to look over let us know your maximum budget and in which country you will be purchasing the parts.

Wow, thanks a lot, this is certainly the best answer I've received as of yet. So I do have all the parts required though? And are you saying I don't actually need the CPU Cooler I've listed? An alternate parts list sounds great. I'm buying from the US, and I think I could spend around $1300-$1400. If necessary, I can pay a little more to meet what I want. I'd like to be able to run something like Crysis 3 at the highest settings, around 60 FPS, preferably a little higher. If I could pay less then my budget while achieving this, that would be great. What about the thermal compound? Is this actually something I need? And finally, regarding the monitor, is it good quality, or should I upgrade it?

Gday.
While Phillpower2 is offline I will put up a build for consideration which can be tweaked.
So I do have all the parts required though?
Possible too many, see questions.
are you saying I don't actually need the CPU Cooler I've listed?
Yes, The stock cooler has been extensively tested and will do the job, hence the CPU 3 year warranty.
I'd like to be able to run something like Crysis 3 at the highest settings, around 60 FPS, preferably a little higher.
You have picked one of the hardest games to play at the highest setting, Read some articles from the link to see what you can expect. Probalve better results now with the newer cards, but not much I expect. Note, the CPU used in each of the reviews.

What about the thermal compound? Is this actually something I need? And finally, regarding the monitor, is it good quality, or should I upgrade it?
No, you won't need the TIM. Review the monitor after other parts are selected.

Haha, it's true, I intentionally picked one of the most graphically intense games I could think of. It's about time to start wrapping up this thread, so I only have a few questions left. The Wi-Fi card is something I need to play online/connect to the internet, isn't it? I noticed you changed the case as well. How can I determine options for my case, so that I may choose one I personally like? What should I take into account?

Gday.
The Wi-Fi card is something I need to play online/connect to the internet, isn't it?
If you computer will be reasonable close to the router, you will get more stable performance using an Ethernet cable rather than wireless, especially for online gaming. A wireless card is most useful if you want to set up a home network for things like, connecting to another computer or laptop, streaming to your home entertainment centre. How do you connect at the moment?
I noticed you changed the case as well. How can I determine options for my case, so that I may choose one I personally like? What should I take into account?
Quite a few on G2G have used the GX 700 with no negative feedback, cheaper than the Next and I think a better case. Selecting a cas depends on the budget, If too cheap, you will need to add fans, so should come with at least 2 pre installed, options to add more, dust filter, washable preferred, be able to take your selected GPU, long warranty, (3 years), is there a video you can watch, (Newegg), LEDs don't make performance better. Look for Pro reviews after you have narrowed down your selection.

I have reconfigured the build which will give you better upgrade options and gaming visuals with a larger monitor. MB has better features and on offer. Removed the SSD which will be sllightly longer load times and possible loose 1 to 2 FPS in gaming but you will not need to worry about the SSD limited capacity, also, by the middle of next year the newest PCI-E/M.2_SSD (NGFF) will be affordable and I would then upgrade for the OS drive.

Currently, I connect to the internet on my laptop wirelessly, but I think I could do a wired connection, yes. When I was looking around for a case, someone suggested to me to upgrade the PSU, does this seem neccesary? And how would this case work? http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811119240 Good reviews, 2 fans, mostly the same components, and I like the look of it. Would this fit my build well?

Changed the PSU to a Corsair RM 650W. and actually works out cheaper.

to connect PC to router, Ethernet cat 6 (14ft enough?) > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16812120504
The case is OK but does not have dust filters. More to be aware of, shows, max length of vga card, 270mm (maximum 320mm hard drive cage removed) 270mm = 10 5/8"
selected card is 11.5" so you would need to remove the hard drive cage.

Alright, just wanted to be sure. And is the case good?

Posted 15 July 2014 - 07:37 PM
Yes. the case will be OK, but you will have to install the internal HDDs at the bottom and remove the upper HDD cage to give enough room for the video card,

No changes needed, all compatible.
I did just notice another storm case, this not to confuse, just to give an option,click on each and watch the videos to make a comparison, > http://www.newegg.co...0^11-119-240-TS
If you want? we can provide some How To Build Tutorials.
If you have any questions or need help during the build, please post.
You could download your user manuals from the manufacturers websites to familiarize yourself with the hardware.

Alright, thanks a lot, you made picking out the parts a lot easier then it would have been. Though I do have one final question, going back to the original point of this forum. Will this be able to run high intensive games like Crysis well?

Yes it will play such games very well. On some games you may need to adjust setting down a little. 30 fps is considered the min for a good gaming experience. The closer to 60 fps, the better it will be.
