Hello All, I am an SCSI novice.

I want to upgade from my motherboard's built-in Adaptec AIC-7899 U160 SCSI controller to a U320 controller.

My tech recommends the Adaptec SCSI 39320A-R PCI card but says that I must re-install the OS as below.

I also spoke with Adaptec techs and they said I do not need to re-install the OS. (Windows 2000 server)

Can someone please enlighten me? If I do not, is there something special I need to do before installing the controller?

________________
Reinstall of the OS is necessary whenever any changes are made to the boot d
rive or the controller that the boot drive uses. Windows will blue screen with STOP messages to effect that it cannot find the drives or old drive controller.

much thanks in advance
