I have gone through few of the postings on this site and pretty much followed the same instructions in removing the aurora popups. In this process, I have downloaded hijackthis and scanned in Safemode. I also downloaded ETRemover but did not execute so far.

Before I try to use "fix checked", I wanted to know what to select. I am attaching the log file of hijackthis (scanned in safemode) and request you to suggest me how to proceed further.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Hi Pieter,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I am following the instructions and Ewido is running very slow. So far, it scanned only 24%(almost it took 2 hours) and may be that's what it is. Also, I keep getting popups in between asking me to quarantine some files (cookies etc). There was also an option of continuing the scanning with Infected files itself and don't know whether to continue that way or not.

Will post the new scans (from Ewido & Hijackthis) soon after I am done.

Thanks.

Take your time. From the looks of your log, Ewido will do a major clean-out.

I tried scanning using ewido twice and it got aborted after completing 91.1% of scanning. This process itself has taken more than 14 hours both the times. While aborting, it shows a typical windows poup to send the error report. While scanning, it had shown lot of popups to clean/quarantine certain files.

Since it was taking longer time and also not successful, I decided to proceed with fixing the suggested files as per your suggestion. After fixing, I started the machine in normal mode and executed hijackthis. Here is the fresh log file.

Pl. let me know what needs to be done.
Thanks

By the time you have read this you will probably already have rebooted.

But we'll give it a shot anyway.

please download RKFiles from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hpzmwi] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpzmwi.exe

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

Next, please reboot your computer in safe mode and run RKFiles.bat. It may take a while. When it is finished a window should appear with a log.

Restart your computer in normal mode, and please post the contents of the logfile, which should be at c:\log.txt.

*Click here and download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\zssxbnb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\epx30104.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\epx30105.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fffvwea.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hpzmwi.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oek.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ejdvhybqoo.exe
C:\WINDOWS\tdtb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\unshred1.exe

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Post a new HijackThis log when you are done.

Performed the suggested approach and here is the new hijackthis log.

I noticed that my menus in Microsoft Outlook under "File", "Edit", "View", "Favorites","Tools", "Actions" are not being shown. The menu drop down expands but nothing is shown.

Well anyway let me get rid of the popups and then worry about the outlook stuff.

Thanks

Reboot into safe mode and delete:
C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network <= entire folder
C:\WINDOWS\culiqqi.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\ieatgpc.inf
C:\WINDOWS\system32\exdl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\exdl1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\exdl2.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\exul.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\exul1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\javexulm.vxd
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqexdlm.srg
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oek.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oekndw30103lib.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\zssxbnb.exe

And (still in safe mode) use the DiskCleanup Tool to empty all your Temp folders.

Post back with a new HijackThis log when you are done.

I couldn't find the following two files.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oek.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\zssxbnb.exe

I am performing the Disk Cleanup activity and will post the latest log of Hijackthis soon after I am done.
Thanks.
