I was exploring different uninstall utility's , and I completely removed MSE, using a removal tool form Bleeping Computer.  I am trying to reinstall the program, but I keep getting a error saying, they the installation can not be completed.  I am really stumped at this point, as I am not sure what I have done.

Can you tell me at which point the installation is interrupted?

Edit to add, Naathim posted while I was still writing, follow his advice first please.

Hi, considering that the uninstaller you used is Microsoft's own, and they say it removes all traces, I doubt that using it has caused the problem of it refusing to reinstall.

So first question is what type of operating system are you running, as in is it 64bit or 32bit, whichever it is, have you selected the matching MSE install?

To save me typing more here is a Microsoft guide on installing MSE. try the steps outlined on there.

I appreciate the responses. I did a quick system restore, and I have the computer back to where it was before I was researching uninstall tools.  I learned a valuable lesson.  Thank you all for your responses, but I think I am good to go.  Do I need to do anything else now that I have Security Essentials back using restore.  The only thing it is asking me to do now is to run a scan.

The only thing I can add is to first update it as it is now running from an earlier point in time, then let it run a scan.

Otherwise thanks for letting us know you got it back.
