Please bring on the construction criticism its welcome!! I'm trying to build a high performance gaming desktop and I've done months of research but I'm no expert so I'd love any advice, tips or a heads up if I'm missing anything please it would help.

 

MAIN OBJECTIVE: To play RPG using a Samsung 28" Ultra HD 4K LED TV at 60mhz & high FPS

No criticisms here only suggestions that will hopefully get the performance that you are looking for at the best price 

 

If the computer is only for gaming then you do not need an i7 CPU, the additional cost is unnecessary and the CPUs full capabilities will never be used, an i5 would be more appropriate and as you do not wish to OC (good  ) you do not need a k version of the CPU and this will also save you some cash, suggested CPU i5-4670

 

Your aftermarket cooler, a very important thing I must make you aware of is that you do not need the additional heatsink and CPU fan and if you did use it you would void your CPU warranty both AMD and Intel are clear on this, see below;

 

AMD;

This Limited Warranty shall be null and void if the AMD microprocessor which is the subject of this Limited Warranty is used with any heatsink/fan other than the one provided herewith.

Intel;

damage to the Product due to external causes, including  accident, problems with electrical power, abnormal electrical, mechanical or environmental conditions, usage not in accordance with product instructions,  misuse, neglect, alteration, repair, improper installation, or improper  testing;

A MB with built in wireless will do away with the additional purchase of an add on card, Asus  Z97-PRO(Wi-Fi ac)

 

You have not list a specific PSU, something that is most important, settle on a list of parts, confirm their availability by placing an order and only then should you select a PSU, you need a minimum of a bronze rated PSU from proven quality brand such as Antec, Corsair, Evga, OCZ or Seasonic and the longer the warranty the better.

 

You do not need McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2014 on your list, Windows 8 and 8.1 have an upgraded version of Windows Defender that offers the same real time protection as Microsoft Security Essentials so no 3rd party AV is required, it will also do away with potential software conflicts.

 

Last but not least, you will need a case to put your hardware in, Antec Nine Hundred  great cooling system and HDD arrangement.

My criticism for the 2 minutes I have. Assuming you haven't already bought it, (If you have then use it). Mcafee, in my view sucks. I would very much recommend something like Avast! Free or something close.

NB: Arguably the best bang per buck GPU atm is the GTX 980 it will do all that you need and more for a lot less cash than the R9 295x2, benchmarks here

GPU is very important. I usually like NVIDIA for that and would use any model above GTX 780. GTX 980 is probably one of the best on the market though.

I'm also a big fan of Samsung SSDs. Samsung 840 may be of interest. I believe it has higher R/W speeds, but I can't remember exacts from the top of my head.
