My Nikon CoolPix won't work it will say Lens Error and not close fully.  I had no idea where else to post this so I decided to post it here.

That sounds like a mechanical problem in the lens retraction and expansion system as it is not being sensed by the camera's system, possibly a firmware type of thing.

 

I can only suggest that it should be looked at by a fully qualified camera technician, as it is too specialised a subject for even an engineer like myself to consider.
