Hey, I was wondering what are just the basic processes I should have running? I use my machine as a workstation for editing movies and too often my computer will slow down or freeze when I try to load to big of a video file. I have anywhere between 32-36 processes running at a time and only have one program open. I try to close AOL but it keeps comming back. Here is my Hijack this log. Thanks -Flappywolf

Hello and welcome to Geeks to Go! :tazz: I'm kool808.
  • Please download Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 and Ad-Aware 1.06.
Follow all the instructions on this website to run a scan with both of these softwares.
  • Please download AboutBuster HERE
    • Unzip the contents of AboutBuster.zip and an AboutBuster directory will be created.
    • Navigate to the AboutBuster directory and double-click on AboutBuster.exe.
    • Click "OK" at the prompt with instructions.
    • Click "Update" and then "Check For Update" to begin the update process.
    • If any updates exist please download them by clicking "Download Update" then click the X to close that window.
    • Now close About:Buster, then re-open it again
    • Click Start and then OK to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
    • Click Yes to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
    • It will begin to check your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
    • When it has finished, click Save Log. Make sure you save it as I may need a copy of it later.
    • Reboot your computer into safe mode again
Run about:buster again following the same instructions as above, this time without the restart at the end
  • Please Download CoolWebShredder , Extract it & run the program. Click the Check for Updates, download if there is available. Click Fix ->.
  • Download and install Cleanup, then run.
In the future please DO NOT post your HJT Logs in this forum unless told so.

Post a log as a new topic in the HijackThis Forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
