Backup computer before malware removal steps

I have this Aurora problem too! I want to follow the malware removal steps listed on this site before messing with Aurora. Do I need to backup my computer in anyway before I start doing this stuff? If so, how do I do this, what will I need, and what all do I backup in order to not lose anything!?!? Your help is very much appreciated!
