Doubt it's malware.  No sign of it and you would not be able to open regedit at all.    Try the full path:

\windows\regedit.exe

in the Start, Run box.  Does that work?

yes it opens that little window I screen shotted fro you before  is that right ? I for some reason thought it was like the command prompt window!!! Well there you go!! Okay one more query before you go my browser seems to be having a little trouble saving as with pics straight out of the search from the browser and I get the odd connectivity issue message, is that something to worry about? I am using the dragon browser which is not supported by google even though it kinda is google !! Would that be why and what is a connectivity issue ?Does that just mean the internet is slow or similar? I have been getting an actiye x problem showing up in the registry part of ccleaner is that an issue too it is always there nothing else though ..should I even use that or is it best left alone?

Yes, that's what regedit is supposed to do.

I would advise you not to use CCleaner especially the registry cleaner part of it.  Registry cleaning causes more problems than it solves.

As far as Dragon goes it is from Comodo not Google.  Google's browser is called Chrome.  Personally I would not use a browser which does not support the AdBlock Plus extension and not using one of the big three (IE, Firefox, Chrome) means some websites may not work as website designers only test their sites with the big three.

Connectivity issues may indicate a problem with your internet connection.  Let's check your errors:

Copy the next line:

netstat -se > \junk.txt

notepad \junk.txt

Start, All programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and Run As Admin.  When the black window comes up right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied lines should appear.  Hit Enter if you do not see Notepad.  Copy and paste the text into a reply.

Let's see what your speed is:

Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and click on Begin Test

When the Test finishes click on Share This Result and then select Forum then Copy then move to a reply and Ctrl + v

Also when I try to disconnect my ipod it says it is in use by another application!!!! I have no other application that I can think of do you think its this invisible usb device ??? Also when I restarted today the windows logo came up fine but after that the screen went deep black and took a good minute to start ,I have noticed the windows task manager is open on shut down ,should it be is that normal, there is till something not right!! I will uninstall ccleaner before next restart..you don't think that has done some damage I have used it a few times?? Do i just use the disc cleaner in the computer to clean up the junk files etc???I have

It's from Apple so probably something to do with your iPod.  If you haven't already you might uninstall itunes.

Best to use the disk cleanup utility that came with Windows.  CCleaner is a bit too aggressive and sometimes takes out stuff you need.

okay just an update changed to firefox again as I said restarted and it started much better...I notice Dragon takes a looooong time to close so will keep an eye on that till I hear from you again..it may be that browser somehow . the ipod seemed fine after re start ...I would think it was connected to the browser if it didnt do it after I shut it down there are no exclamation marks anymore so I will keep an eye on it and let you know if it is because the dragon browser doesn't shut down properly...but still would like your opinion on the imaginary usb...we did have an over heating problem which is common with our type of toshiba they sent a bio that fixed it but the damage was already done and all the plugs are loose. We have had a new cooling plate and fan installed so it is alot better now!!!.do you think its just not reading correctly because of that and thinks something is plugged in that isnt.it says usb 2.0-CRW is that meant to be there maybe ? honestly the only thing plugged in is the ipod no usb's at all...just saw your message and yes re installed brand new itunes uninstalled bonjour and will un install ccleaner...really I guess I am asking should I worry or just put it down to a crap new i tunes unfortunately we kinda use the stupid thing I havent looked to see if I remove i tunes all together whether that usb will disappear too wouldn't surprise me at all if it did ....Okay ccleaner is GONE!! I won't get anymore of those things!!! you kinda rely on other peoples opinions but I guess its much like telly can't believe everything they tell ya :spoton: Anyway I will keep an eye on things just like everything to be working well I guess.... I will love you and leave you I have taken up enough of your time for now :prop:  You rock though I am soo thankfull for your help I owe you a big hug and a kiss for that so   &  You look after yourself sir   You are much appreciated....I have recommended this site to my friends on facebook etc !!!!!!

Still waiting for the speedtest results:

Let's see what your speed is:

Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and click on Begin Test

When the Test finishes click on Share This Result and then select Forum then Copy then move to a reply and Ctrl + v

With Firefox go to adblockplus.org and click on the Install for Firefox button if you haven't already installed it.

None of my tools look at Dragon so I can't help you with it.

I think the ipod drivers are all that is getting installed when you plug it in.  It plugs into a USB jack and has some memory so probably gets treated like a drive so that it fits in Windows scheme of things.
